his and hers: spring wish lists

With the winter blues getting us down lately, the hubs and I decided to put together our spring style wish lists. Funnily enough, mine is significantly more realistic than his:

We can't wait for warmer weather! What are your spring must-haves this year?

because lists are what i do best

I am most definitely a list person. I make lists for anything and everything. Sometimes I even make lists of things I need to make lists for. (I promise I'm not crazy.) If you could only see my coffee table and how many lists it currently holds, you'd probably think I am crazy. But, in honor of this being our last week here in this little town before we move back to Indiana, I give you two lists:

Things I Will Miss About Rexburg:
1. Living down the street from the temple
2. Having a Deseret Bookstore so close to us
3. The burgers, fries, onion rings, and strawberry lemonade from The Hickory

Things I Will NOT Miss About Rexburg:
1. No Super Walmart
2. The fact that it snows all the time, never melts, and they don't feel the need to treat or plow the roads
3. The thin walls of this apartment. And I do mean really thin, guys
4. Having only ONE closet in this entire apartment
5. The furniture that came in this furnished apartment
6. Living so far away from family and friends

..and that's all my pregnant brain can think of right now.

i guess i'm late to the party

A couple days ago, I was checking to see what new videos were up in my YouTube subscriptions. I came across a video done by Glamourista16 that was all about how she edits her Instagram photos. Instantly I fell in love and looked up basically all the apps she mentioned in her video. I'm pretty sure I'm late to the party on this one, and I'm assuming all of these apps have been around forever. But they're new to me and so much fun! The three I've been messing around with the most are A Beautiful Mess ($0.99), Afterlight ($0.99), and Papelook (FREE!). So many fun features-

What are some of your favorite photo editing apps?

a little christmas wish list

Is it sad that my entire wish list is pajama items? I think it might be a little bit sad. But I can't help it, I love comfy, cozy pajamas. The current obsession with these particular items stems from the fact that I've been searching for the perfect robe and the perfect slippers and the pajama pants with the perfect level of softness to pack in my hospital bag. And that's how this year's wish list was born:

1. The Pillowtalk Tank Pajama- It's the cotton/modal/spandex fabric combo that has me swooning. Modal? Yes please! And look how bright and cute they are- and I don't know about you, but I always feel better when I'm wearing bright and cute jammies.

2. Sleepover Cotton Slipper- I had no idea how hard it was going to be to find slippers that I loved. I wanted the kind I could just slip on (hence the name, slippers), not the full shoe-style that is so popular right now. I also wanted a material that wasn't going to make my feet hot. And nowadays, it seems like everything in the slipper world is either fleece or lined with faux fur. Then I found these pink cotton slippers, and it was love.

3. Cashmere-Blend Robe- You might be interested to know, it's not the "cashmere-blend" fabric that was the huge draw for me on this one. It's the length. Did you have any idea how hard it is to find a light-weight robe that is longer than mid-thigh?? Let me tell you- I have been looking for one for almost a year now. And I have had no luck. Any robe I have found has either been the right length but the wrong material (I don't want to suffocate and sweat blanketed in fuzzy fleece) or the right material but the wrong length (any shorter than the bottom of my knee is an automatic no-go for me.) And then one magical day, I came across this robe. Close enough to the fabric weight I was looking for, and it meets my length requirement. I think that means I have to get it, right?

What's on your wish list this year?

30 week pregnancy update

It's hard to believe I'm already 30 weeks pregnant! I kind of wish I'd been better at documenting my pregnancy thus far, but I guess better late than never, right?

This week baby is the size of: a head of lettuce- 3.2 lbs at least!
How far along? 30 weeks! My gosh, I can't believe it.
Due date: February 18th, 2014
Total weight gain? 18 lbs.
Maternity clothes? Let's be honest, I'm in sweats 99% of the time. But when I do venture out, I'm definitely wearing maternity clothes. Liz Lange for Target has saved my life during this pregnancy. None of my regular pants fit anymore, and none of my pre-pregnancy tops are long enough.
Sleep? So hit or miss. So frustrating. Sometimes I wake up just about every hour on the hour, and then every once in a while I'll get a night like Sunday night where I'll sleep all the way through without waking up even once. No pattern to the good/bad nights either- just totally random.
Best Moment this week? I'm probably going to have to say.. sleeping through the night Sunday night without waking up even once.
Movement? This little guy is always moving around. Punching, kicking, rolling from side to side. And of course using my bladder as a punching bag.
Food cravings? I want juice and fruit all the time- just can't seem to get enough.
Symptoms? Sleeplessness, so much pressure in my belly, the worst nasal congestion, and it seems I can't get comfortable no matter what I do.
Gender? BOY!
Labor signs? None yet, thankfully!
Belly button in or out? Much to my surprise, still in!
Feeling toward pregnancy? Excited, overwhelmed, etc. Pretty much everything I'm sure every first time mama feels.
What I miss? Ibuprofen. Without a doubt.

Can't wait for this little guy to get here!

top 9 pregnancy essentials

Since getting pregnant, I've watched a lot of videos on YouTube and read a lot of different blog posts all about what women just couldn't live without during their pregnancies. This sparked some thinking on my part about what things I couldn't live without during my pregnancy so far. While none of my pregnancy essentials are fancy items or anything I'd call luxurious, they are the top 9 day-to-day items I reach for the most.

top row:
1. True Blue Spa Shea Cashmere Body Cream- oh my, this is heavenly. I have used this on my belly almost every single day since finding out I was pregnant. I am currently 30 weeks along with no sign of stretch marks. I have no idea if this body cream has anything to do with that, and honestly that's not even why I use it. It's just super moisturizing and has helped so much with that itchy belly feeling that accompanies pregnancy. And hey, if it does help prevent stretch marks, that's just icing on the cake.
2. Goody Hair Ties- I'm going to be honest here: if I had to narrow this list down to just one thing, it would be a hair tie. Between getting sick multiple times a day every single day for my whole first trimester and the hot flashes that have come during the second and third trimesters, I have never known when I'm going to need to throw my hair up on a whim. These have been a lifesaver.
3. Granola Bars- I can't even begin to tell you how many granola bars I've eaten over the last several months. But these have been the perfect thing to have on hand to snack on whenever I need a little something. Also, they're great to just throw in your purse in case you need a little snack while you're out running around.
middle row:
4. Apples- Fuji, Gala, Sweet Tango (have you tried a Sweet Tango? To. Die. For.) doesn't matter what kind really, but apples have been my go-to snack ever since the middle of my second trimester. Sometimes for a little added sweetness I throw in some caramel dip, because hey, why not?
5. Gatorade- I swear Gatorade saved my life during my first trimester. I started noticing that water was a little too harsh on my stomach (please someone tell me how water can make you feel nauseated), and someone suggested I try gatorade instead. I did, and oh how glad I was that it worked. I like to keep one on my nightstand, one in the living room, and about ten backups waiting. (Okay, maybe that's a little excessive. But really, it's all I drank for weeks.)
6. Victoria's Secret PINK Boyfriend Sweats- PINK sweats are just about the only brand of sweats I own and wear. Up until about a month ago, I was able to fit into every style of them that I own. Now that my belly is getting much bigger, the boyfriend style is my go-to. Luckily I already owned about 4 pairs. So comfy. So cozy.
bottom row:
7. Vick's Vaporub- I don't know if you know this or not, but with pregnancy comes the most uncomfortable nasal congestion you will ever experience in your whole life. And pretty much nothing will help. I have bad sinuses anyway, so this was a huge big-fat-bummer to me. But I will say, this provides a little bit of relief here and there- which is better than nothing.
8. Puff's Ultra Soft & Strong Tissues- My husband is almost positive that Puff's could stay in business solely because of me. If you only had any idea of the number of boxes of tissues I've gone through. But, like I said- pregnancy will mess your nose up, and that's where these come in. And for me, they have to be Puff's brand. That time my husband came home with a 3-pack of Kleenex tissues was one of the worst weeks ever. In my opinion, Puff's are softer and stronger. And when you're using a million tissues a day, those little things can make a huge difference.
9. Vick's Vaporizer- This little gem was recommended to me by an old friend from high school after I had posted something on Facebook about not being able to breathe and how literally nothing was working. At that point, I would've tried anything. Anything, I tell you. And I've tried some crazy stuff to clear up congestion before (like a couple years ago when I ate a spoonful of hot sauce. Thanks a lot, google.) Anyway, this baby was only $15 at Walmart, and after using it for the last few days, I can definitely say it has made a difference.

So there you have it- my top 9 pregnancy essentials.
